History
Elisen Technologies, a company specialized in providing engineering services for new aircraft development programs, aircraft repairs and aircraft modifications, was founded in 1997 by Stéphane Durand and Taif Rahman, two senior aerospace engineers. Elisen became a principal stakeholder in MJET when the company was founded in 2004. In early 2007 Elisen announced the complete acquisition of Mjet.
Elisen was the first independent engineering organization in Quebec to be accredited by Transport Canada as a "Design Approval Organization (DAO)". DAO designation (DAO#1-Q-01) allows Elisen to issue approval certificates for select repair and modification work. Thanks to this status, MJET's work can be certified quickly and efficiently – without requiring additional Transport Canada verification. From a client's perspective, DAO status represents reduced aircraft downtime. And, by virtue of international agreements, MJET is entitled to similar privileges in the US and Europe under Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) regulations.
